Protect your child's teeth by starting dental checkups early.
By your child's 1st birthday, the American Dental Association recommends a " Well Baby Visit". The dentist or hygienist will show parents how to clean the child's teeth and gums, discuss oral health habits, diet, and address any concerns the parents may have. Having a well baby visit at this age establishes a "dental home" for the child and is a great way to introduce your child to our dental office.
If your child is a toddler, the dentist or hygienist will examine his or her teeth and gums, looking for decay and other problems. A professional cleaning may also be performed.
Tooth decay can begin as soon as baby's teeth come in. Untreated decay in baby teeth can lead to cavities and cause pain or infection.
